Anybody who knows sports in the DFW Metroplex has heard of Chris Arnold. Chris has been a fixture entertaining us with the Dallas Mavericks as MC at all of the games FOREVER! He’s also dialed into the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and on numerous sports talk shows over the years, including his current gig with 105.3 The Fan.
Anyhow, I was recently introduced to Chris at an Entrepreneurial event with the Oak Cliff Chamber and he and I hit it off right away. Very engaging guy and a walking almanac, not only on Sports, but also music and behind the scenes stories on all kinds of cool stuff that I am in tune with. A very interesting guy. More importantly….genuine to the core, with amazing energy and a great spirit.
Coincidentally, at the time I met Chris, I had been trying to find a way to meet the Dallas Cowboys most recent 2nd Round Draft pick, a player by the name of Jaylon Smith. Jaylon busted up his leg in the final game of his college career at Notre Dame and is currently on Injured Reserve with the Cowboys. I had followed his story and was so impressed that I had my team at Villy Custom design and build a “one-of-a-kind” Dallas Cowboys cruiser bike for Jaylon. I was hoping it might allow him some nice casual rides around his neighborhood and help with his knee + I wanted to meet him in person ;) I will tell this part of the story in more detail on my next blog entry!
Long story short, I asked Chris if he could somehow make the intro to Jaylon happen. His exact words were, “Gotcha Down”. Sure enough, Chris hooked me up with a one-on-one at the new Cowboys Training Facility (The Star) where we got to meet Jaylon in person (pinch myself) and give him the bike. Dream come true for me…I even got a tour of the facility. Jaylon loved the bike and I really enjoyed doing it.
Throughout the process, I got to know Chris a little bit better. Very cool Dude. Found out his favorite color was blue. His patented “on air” catchphrases are “Ooooooweeeee” and “Gotcha Down”. So…..in life, you always got to show your appreciation for good people doing nice things. Chris went out of his way to make it happen, so, we put together a custom stunner for Chris so now he’s got his own Villy Custom to ride. Matte blue frame, mirror-finish Lollipop blue wheels with black and white accents! We got his initials on the frame and the phrase “Gotcha Down” on the chainguard. Damn, I got to get “Ooooooweeeeeee” on their somehow!!!!!
Chris lives in Oak Cliff and he has a killer place to ride. Another awesome experience, meeting fantastic people and sharing a little bit of the Villy magic! Thanks again to Chris for making it happen. Enjoy the Ride!
